We are proud to offer the New Local Health Director/Commissioner Program.

This program is intended to orient new Directors and Commissioners to working with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). The program is cosponsored by the NYS Department of Health and NYSACHO.

The Program is based on a live WebEx webinar series airedlive between December 2011 and November 2012 New Director / Commissioner Program and has been revised to reflect changes.

The Program consists of a series archived WebEx webinars recorded between December 2011 and November 2012 and led by DOH staff. Each presentation concludes with a discussion of the topic facilitated by a DOH program representative.  

If you have additional questions that you would like answered after viewing a program, simply submit those questions via LMS Messaging to the course in question (My Courses > Current Courses or Current Programs > Click on "Messaging" found in the Section Column).

If you have any administrators/deputies at your agency that would benefit from this orientation, they are invited to participate as well.

Enrolling In the Program:

1. Scroll down to the bottom of the program description page, you will find a Course Status Table displaying your status for each course in the program.
2. To enroll in the program you must click on the “Begin Program Enrollment” button below the course status table.
3. On the resultant page you must scroll down beneath the course status table and enroll (choose section and continuing education credits, if applicable) for each program course that you are not yet enrolled in or have not yet completed.

Accessing the Program:

You will be able to access and launch program courses in any of three places.

1. Through your Current Courses list on the upper right hand side of the LMS Homepage
2. Through My Courses – Current Courses and
3. Through My Courses – Current Programs.  Current Programs organizes all of the Program Courses and management tools into one table which can be helpful if you are enrolled in many courses on the LMS.

Note: Any LMS Courses that you may have enrolled in or completed in the past that are also part of this program will reflect your previous enrolled/completed status. You will NOT have to complete them again. If you choose to review any of these courses you can visit My Courses > Completed Courses and launch any of these courses as "post-completion content".
