In an effort to orient new Directors and Commissioners to working with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) we are proud to offer the 2011-2012 New Director/Commissioner Program. The program is cosponsored by the NYSDOH, NYSACHO and the Empire State Public Health Training Center. The Orientation Program will consist of a combination of in-person and online sessions held between November 2011 and the end of 2012. Participation in the various components of the orientation will be facilitated through the www.NYLearnsPH.com Learning Management System (LMS).
The Program began with an in-person kick-off event and a discussion of the Article 6 program, held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. For those who were not able to attend this program live, we hope to be able to offer an updated program sometime in the future however no archive of that presentation is available at this time.
The remainder of the Program will be conducted online via a series of webinars to be held on the second Tuesday of each month from 10-11am. Sessions will consist of presentations led by DOH staff through webinars and viewing of informational material followed by discussion facilitated by a DOH program representative. There is also a tour of the Wadsworth Center Laboratories, planned for the summer months this tour will be held in conjunction with a regularly scheduled NYSACHO meeting.
If you have any administrators/deputies at your agency that would benefit from this orientation, they are invited to participate. However, travel support may not be available for such individuals.
