Program Description
This series of webinars and one in-person training is hosted by the Office of Aging and Long-Term Care (OALTC), Division of Residential Support. It features Dr. Jen Moore DNP MSN BS RN CNEcl NY-SAFE EMT, Associate Director and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Manager of OALTC. Dr. Moore successfully modified this training from the Office of Mental Health Universal Safety and Establishing Trusting Relationships program (TRUST) program in 2024 to meet the needs and safety concerns voiced by surveillance staff in the field.
Universal Safety Training is divided into ten (10) online modules, and one in-person course, that should be taken in order. When complete for the ten (10) modules, a student should then ensure they are able to attend an in-person Defensive Techniques four (4) hour presentation and skills demonstration. New sections of the in-person training will occur on the first and last Tuesday of each month. Watch for an offering that is accessible in your, or an adjacent, region.
After successful completion of the ten (10) online modules and the in person Defensive Techniques presentation and skills demonstration, the student will be awarded a program certificate that should be renewed annually.
If you have any questions about the webinar, please email ltcresidentialsurveysupport@health.ny.gov with the subject line Universal Safety Training.
