This (IN-PERSON ONLY) course is designed for engineers and other environmental health professionals who inspect community water systems with surface water sources, or who provide program supervision related to such public water systems.  This surface water training is intended to build upon knowledge attained from attending the groundwater sanitary survey course, which includes general sanitary survey instruction and other material that is not repeated in the surface water course.  Completion of the 'Sanitary Surveys of Ground Water Systems course is an expected prerequisite for taking the 'Sanitary Survey of Surface Water System course.

**10 hours of Professional Engineering Continuing Education Credits will be awarded for completion of this course.

On day 2 of the course there will be an off-site visit to a public surface water system. Be prepared to carpool to limit the number of cars parked at the facility. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Completion of this course is awarded 10 CEUs. Thank you and I hope you enjoy this course.

IMPORTANT: All students taking this course will be required to wear appropriate PPE for the field visit at the Veolia water system. This includes: hard hats, safety goggles, safety vests and safety shoes (closed toe shoes). If you will not be able to meet these requirements, or do not have your own PPE please reach out to madeline.okula@health.ny.gov so that we can make any necessary arrangements.  There will be a limited amount of safety equipment provided by the water system.
