TOPIC: ACTIVE SHOOTER SURVIVOR STORIES
RECORDED ON: August 12, 2025
DESCRIPTION: Hear first-hand accounts from people involved in our nation’s most infamous active shooter attacks: 2018 Parkland High School Shooting, 2017 Las Vegas Harvest 91 Attack & 2012 Aurora Movie Theater Shooting
A virtual panel of actual responders and survivors shared personal accounts of response, survival, and recovery. When there is breaking news of a shooting, all of society tunes in. But news outlets mostly focus on the initial response and immediate aftermath. Seldom do we hear the personal – often heroic – accounts of those who were actually there. This virtual session offers a rare glimpse into the challenges faced by actual responders and survivors, but its ultimate goal is to promote resilience and recovery.
