Course Description:
This training will provide an overview of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) PLACES interactive local-level data sets. PLACES can assist with informing how Local Health Departments (LHD) can prioritize populations that are potentially disproportionately affected or impacted by public health emergencies because of access and functional needs given the identified risks in their county. The webinar aims to equip LHD staff with the knowledge to use PLACES to better understand the burden and geographical distribution of chronic disease and health outcomes in their county.
Course Objectives:
Participants will learn to use CDC’s PLACES interactive tools by reviewing:
- PLACES data measure categories and how they are used
- PLACES tools including its data portal and interactive maps and how they are downloaded
- User cases for specific risk hazards
