Course Description

In recognition of National Preparedness and National Food Safety Education Month, the New York·New Jersey Preparedness and Emergency Response Learning Center (NY·NJ PERLC) will host a food safety broadcast on Thursday, September 29,2011 at 11am EST. Join us as Dr. Robert B. Gravani, Professor of Food Science at Cornell University and Stephen D. Stich, Director of Food and Safety Inspections at the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, discuss initiatives to increase food safety at the local, state, and national levels. The speakers will focus on 2 aspects of the new Food Modernization Safety Act: Improving the Safety of Imported Food and Improving the Capacity to Prevent Food Safety problems with a focus on produce and mitigation strategies.

The webcast is free. For satellite download please contact the program administrator. The program will be available for viewing at the University at Albany SPH in Rensselaer, NY on September 29th, 2011.
