Course Description
The American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed program is a nationwide campaign that provides the public with the basic skills necessary to control life-threatening bleeding. This course teaches participants how to recognize life-threatening bleeding, how to apply direct pressure, how to pack wounds, and how to properly apply a tourniquet. The goal is to empower individuals to act quickly and effectively in emergency situations, potentially saving lives before professional help arrives. The course is typically short, hands-on, and led by trained instructors. It's based on tactical combat casualty care techniques initially developed for the military but adapted for civilian use in a variety of settings.
