Course Description

Objective:

To provide First Responder/Receiver Operation level training for hospital responders in the event of a chemical exposure.

Topics to include:

• Site investigation and characterization
• Hazard recognition
• Decontamination procedures
• Safety, health and other site hazards
• Understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG)
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Work practices that minimize risk
• Safe use of controls and equipment
• Air monitoring and instrumentation
• Recognition of signs and symptoms of exposure
• Medical surveillance
