Background
The Coalition Surge Test (CST) is designed to help health emergency preparedness coalitions (HEPCs) identify gaps in their surge planning through a low- to no-notice exercise. The CST tests a coalition’s ability to work in a coordinated way to find appropriate destinations for patients using a simulated evacuation.
Based on Lessons Learned from the 2017-2018 CST exercise, modifications have been made to the data collection tools, to make them more user-friendly and applicable to the required Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) performance measures.
Goal
The goals of the Workshop are to ensure that local healthcare preparedness partners:
· Review lessons learned from the 2017-2018 CST exercise and how to adapt them to the 2018-2019 CST exercise
· Review the objectives of the exercise, including how to use required tools for the 2018-19 CST.
Target Audience
Hospital Emergency Management Coordinator in their respective coalition region or other staff as authorized by the hospital
