Course Description
Hospitals must have a plan to decontaminate large numbers of casualties in the event of a major terrorist, hazmat or natural disaster resulting in contaminated patients. Without trained staff, hospitals risk contamination of employees, patients and the facility. This program, which follows accreditation standards for decontamination and emergency planning, outlines the process of quickly mobilizing a hospital decon team and teaches the practical skills involved. Topics covered:
Decontamination techniques for ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients
Weather and modesty issues
Equipment and supplies needed
Integrating triage with decon
Donning and doffing of PPE
Post decon activities
