Course Description

The purpose of this training is to help LHDs understand the role of health literacy and use health literacy concepts to educate dental providers on evidence-based pain management and patient engagement strategies when conducting public health detailing on opioid prescribing practices.  

After participating in the training, attendees will be able to:  

  1. Identify what health literacy is 

  1. Understand how health literacy is relevant to public health detailing 

  1. Learn about health literacy and health communication practices that can help with the detailing process 

  1. Become familiar with what makes organizations health literate
